12 Years A Slave and 20 Feet From Stardom were two of my picks to win Academy Awards in 2014, and they both won Oscars!

The Academy Award for Best Picture went to 12 Years A Slave. Screenwriter John Ridley received the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for the movie, while newcomer Lupita Nyong’o won a statue for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

The award for Best Documentary went to 20 Feet From Stardom. The film is about the world of background singers starring some of the industry’s best, background singers Darlene Love, Lisa Fischer, Merry Clayton and Judith Hill.

And I also was right on the money when I picked one of my favorite actors, Matthew McConaughey to win the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in Dallas Buyer’s Club. He had an interesting acceptance speech which ended with “Alright, alright, alright.”
